Apply to the 2026 Polkadot Protocol Builders Program in Lisbon, Portugal: intensive Substrate, FRAME & XCM training with recruitment alignment to Parity.
In 2026, the Polkadot Blockchain Academy (PBA) is reinforcing its core mandate: training technical talent to engineering standards comparable to those required to operate a production-grade protocol. As part of this direction, PBA is introducing a new, more specialized, and immersive format built for developers who want to move from learning into execution at protocol depth.
That new format is the Polkadot Protocol Builders Program (PBP): a two-week, in-person experience in Lisbon taking place between April 12--25, focused on on-chain development with the Polkadot stack and designed to accelerate professional opportunities for high-performing technical attendees.
PBP is explicitly recruitment-aligned with Parity, offering chosen participants the opportunity to be fast-tracked into interviews with the infrastructure company behind the Polkadot blockchain, creating a direct path from a high-signal technical program to potential jobs. Importantly, acceptance to the program does not guarantee employment, and assessments will be based on performance, readiness, and fit.
The program is deliberately intense: full days of lectures, hands-on coding, group work, and formal assessments, all designed for developers with strong Rust skills and an appetite for deep on-chain work.
The curriculum focuses on the Polkadot protocol stack, including Substrate, FRAME, Cumulus, Cross-Chain Messaging (XCM), and the Polkadot node implementation, and is continuously updated to reflect ecosystem and protocol changes.

Parity's 2026 focus is clear: mature the protocol, harden core systems, and support a new generation of production-grade applications on Polkadot. As the network evolves, so too must the standards of those who build and maintain it. Programs like PBP are designed to develop engineers capable of contributing at the protocol level, where long-term resilience and scalability are defined.
Completion of PBA-X is mandatory, but don't worry: if selected and you haven't completed it yet, you'll have time before Lisbon. For accepted participants, Polkadot covers tuition and accommodation (and some meals); participants cover travel and personal expenses.
Selection is competitive but human, with no coding test, and 1--2 interviews. Applications are open until March 6, 2026.

The Protocol Builders Program is designed for software developers, professionals, or advanced students with strong Rust skills and an interest in deep on-chain development.
It is not an introductory Web3 course.
Participants must have solid working proficiency in Rust and must complete PBA-X. If selected and you have not yet completed it, you will have time to do so before the program begins.
The curriculum focuses on protocol-level development across the Polkadot stack, including:
Content is continuously updated to reflect the latest protocol developments.
Expect full days of lectures, hands-on coding, group work, and formal assessments.
The program is intensive. Participants are strongly encouraged to avoid other work commitments during the two-week period.
For admitted participants, Polkadot covers tuition, accommodation, and some meals. Participants cover travel to and from Lisbon, as well as personal expenses.
No. The program is aligned with Parity's recruitment, and high-performing participants may be fast-tracked to interviews. However, employment decisions are based on performance, readiness, and team fit.
No. While the program creates a direct pathway to Parity interviews, it is foremost a professional development experience. Graduates gain protocol-level expertise relevant across the broader Polkadot and Web3 ecosystem.
Sessions are led by engineers actively working on the Polkadot protocol, including experienced contributors and PBA alumni.
There is no coding test. Shortlisted applicants participate in one or two interviews. Selection prioritizes technical readiness, curiosity, and motivation.
